The date doesn't necessarily mean it's bad the day after. It's just the last date it's guaranteed to be alright. Way too many people throw food away solely due to exp date.

People from USA throw away about 40% of perfectly fine food just because they are afraid of some numbers and have not learnt to judge by themselves when a type of food goes bad. Stop being so wasteful you dumb morons!

Here are some awesome tips you guys might find useful: Nr.1 Expiration date on Foods & Drinks are percentages, that means, it's the expiration date that during testing, 50% (Or different percentage depending on country) of the substances started degrading. Nr. 2 Expiration date on all prescription tablets (notice, not syrups or injection ready medications) are arbitrary, as in they're not real. You can save tablets for 60 years and it won't lose its effectiveness or go bad per say. Hope you find these info useful in case of warfare

I have milk that expired 3 weeks ago. It's still good. It doesn't go bad the day after, it's just not guaranteed to be good

It's such a waste that people throw away food that's past it's expiration date but is still more than fine to eat. Yoghurt for example. As long as the top of the pot isn't swollen it's just fine to eat. Things like Potato chips, cookies... stay good long after their expiration date (when left unopend). With things like meat or seafood you should be more carefull. Especially fish and other seafood. You have more chance to get (really bad) food poisoning due to more harmful bacteria.

Sadly I eat my food until it start tasting weird or I can start seeing mold on it. I am actually surprised that I dont get food poisoning.

The best before date is just a warranty from the producer that the food is good until that date. How many of you throw away your tv when the warranty expires? If the food looks ok, smells ok and tastes ok it is still good. Trust me, I've been dumpster diving for 1.5 years and I eat expires food every day. Food that almost always have been stored in a hot dumpster for at least a few hours.

Best before and expiration dates are very different, milk usually has a best before date. Milk can be fine easily a week after that.

Milk can stay good until 3 weeks after the date. For yogurt, it's 3 months.
