Plug and play
Not much to this thing; you plug it in and it works! There doesn't seem to be any background noise or hissing which was my main concern, as far as I've tested with the SPDIF input. I like that it has a USB jack for power instead of requiring an AC adapter. The unit is in a nice metal box and comes with a TOSLINK cable and USB cable for power, so you can be up and running quickly. The cons are minor: red power LED is extremely bright (I removed mine, you could tape over yours), the "gold" plated connectors are pretty cheap and the plating was already wearing off on my new unit because it isn't actually gold plated. The company contact information is a Hotmail address which I think tells you all you need to know. There might be better ones, but it does what it says and I have no complaints.

Set TV audio out to PCM
Works great. Just note as mentioned comments to a one star review below: no signal comes out of the headphone or RCA jacks unless you set the audio out on your HDTV to PCM! Dolby et al will not work. I was ready to return the DAC, thinking the device didn't work until I saw this bit of advice. If you want to connect a surround system as well & don't want to switch cables, put a splitter into the optical out of your TV. Put the DAC on one side & the optical cable to the sound system on the other. This is the one I got - for $9 it does the job Conwork 1x2 Toslink Fiber Optic Digital Optical Audio Splitter Adapter 1 input 2 Output -Black

Works Well, Good Headphone Level
Smartly packaged product is formed sheet steel with good slightly textured finish and clear easy white font markings. The PROZOR Digital to Analog Converter takes optical or coaxial digital audio of various formats and outputs analog audio for interfacing with external equipment. For me I wanted a headphone output from a TV that only had optical. This adapter easily setup, powered and delivered a fully adjustable level, clear and of good quality. Plenty of power to drive full size heavy, over the ear headphones. These are AKG K340 electrostatic-dynamic monsters from the 1980s. I did have to supply my own headphone adapter cable that took the 1/8 inch (3.5mm) phone (RTS) female socket and upsized it to a standard 1/4 inch to interface with my antique cans. The Device powers with 5v DC via USB micro connection on the device. Included is a micro USB to USB A (standard full sized USB 1.0/2.0 connector) approx 14 inches long. My late model 16x9 LED TV is typical of 2018 products, missing many of the input/output connections of earlier systems. Audio output is always lacking on these displays, even though there is an internal tuner that provides HD video. Most people do NOT want to use the substandard, micro "full-range" speakers included in bargain LED TV's. It's better to run analog audio to an external amplifier and heavier speakers. This D>A converter provides that connection wonderfully. Small and compact, powers to what is almost always nearby on modern video monitors, connects to optical or coaxial services. Included is also a short satisfactory optical audio cable. Sidenote, the tips of new optical audio cables have a silicone protector over the metal sleeve. This keeps scratches from the fragile fiber optic tip. Remove the silicone protector prior to cable insertion or you'll push the PC board mounted connector off it's mount. The PROZOR D>A has a red LED indicator on the rear when it's receiving 5v from USB. There is no way to turn it off from the device. That would have been a nice feature with the volume potentiometer knob. Coax input is the standard single RCA connector. There is no included coaxial cable. In addition to the 3.5mm headphone output, it also provides simultaneous consumer line level audio at the two rear RCAs. The front face volume pot does not attenuate the output of the rear line level RCAs. I've run this device for hours with no overheating or failure. It's compact and a good addition to a trouble shooting audio bag. Highly recommended.

Fixed: Can connect Sennheiser Rs-120 RF headphones to new TV
We recently upgraded TVs to a 2017 Samsung 58" which only has Digital Audio Out as the only audio only, audio out option. We use the Sennheiser Rs-120 wireless RF headphones to listen to the TV sometimes. The Sennheiser headphones connect to RCA (analog) L/R audio plus. While using those headphones, we want sound to continue coming out of the TV speakers. The Prozor DAC converter allows us to keep using the headphones as we always have. I connected the USB cable that come with the Prozar to a .5 amp USB port on our TV, used the TOSLINK cable to connect from the TV Digital Audio Out to the PROZAR. I used the Settings menu on the Samsung to change Digital Audio Out to PCM and everything works. I like that I can power the Prozor off a USB port on the TV because then it is only powered when we need it. The volume control works on the Prozor and I tested the 3.5 mm output jack and it works too. Great solution to the problem created with our TV upgrade. Recommend.

The Fix For No Audio When PS4 Hooked To Old HDTVs
I used this to enable sound on my son's new PS4 when connected to our Mesolithic Era RCA R52WM24 Flat Panel TV (circa 2006). The PS4 includes digital outputs, so using the HDMI adapter converted video only with no sound. I read tons of reviews and recommendations online to assure I purchased the right adapter, so I hope this helps those in my situation. It's very easy, just plug in (don't forget to buy a separate AC adapter, HomeSpot - UL Certified USB Wall Charger Power Supply 5v 1A (1000mA) Universal Portable Travel Power Adapter Plug - it's not included here), then connect the supplied optical cable out of the PS4 into the box, and connect a pair of RCA analog audio cables (the Red & White kind) to the box and into your Old HDTV - works great! RCA cables also not included, so be sure to purchase them (Amazon basics are great). Also found it to be pleasantly solidly built with metal case, not cheese plastic that's lighter than the cables - so that's a plus. All in all very satisfied. Great product.

Works as designed (with a non product related gotcha)
Purchased to solve this problem: My computer is outputting analog audio to two audio systems. 1)Amplifier and Speakers in my office and another amplifier supplying whole house audio. I use 3.5mm Y adapters to share the output to both amplifiers. There has always been a buzz in the speakers of the house audio possibly due to ground loop issues. (That topic can fill a book). I needed to isolate the audio signal from my computer and the house audio. This device does exactly that. It did not work at first. Plugged headphones into the converter to make sure I wasn't having problems down line. No audio to headphones. Had to play around in WIN 10 sound settings to tell audio output to use Realteks Optical output. That didn't work until I rebooted. Them audio came out of the convertor..and NO buzz on home speakers. Unfortunately that instantly broke the analog audio output from the computer. Research then showed that you get one output or the other but not both. You then can go down the rabbit hole of the the tricks to use to get thisa to work. (Total different subject). My fix was to reuse the 3.5mm Y cables and again bridge the audio output to both my office amp[lifier and the whole house amplifier, but this time using the output of the convertor. I totally expected some buzzing. No buzzing :) Case closed. May not be the best technical solution but it's working fine. Nice packaging for the unit. Nicely done metal box but it is funny to read the Chinese English in the tiny instruction booklet.

Provides Volume Control for Sony Headphones
I have the PROZOR connected to the optical output of the One Connect Box of my Samsung 75 inch 4K TV. The input to the Samsung One Connect Box is from my Denon receiver. And in turn, I plug a 3.5mm cable from a Lantoo Bluetooth 4.1 Transmitter / Receiver into this PROZOR Digital Analog converter. With this arrangement I can use my Sony Bluetooth headphones to listen to my TiVo DVR, my oppo Blu-Ray DVD player or my Roku wirelessly. The PROZOR has a volume control that allows me to adjust the sound level that best suits my Sony headphones. The sound quality is terrific and the sound level is fully adjustable. Note there are some Bluetooth 4.1 Transmitter units available that could also be fed directly with the optical output of the Samsung One Connect box but I could not find one that provided volume control.

Perfect for a computer if it has optical out (a tip for Mac owners in the review)
I have this hooked up to an early 2015 13" MacBook Pro, which is connected to a pair of speakers JBL LSR305 Professional Studio Monitor (PACK OF 2), like below. MBP (mini toslink audio out) --> (toslink audio in) PROZOR DAC --> (RCA in) JBL SPEAKERS If you want to use this DAC to connect external speakers like the JBL above, then you need to check some things. The steps below are specifically for a Mac (should be easier on a PC by just checking the ports on the sound card). 1. Check if it supports optical out by going to About this Mac --> System Report --> Hardware Audio and check to see if you see S/PDIF Optical Digital Audio Output. 2. If it supports it, it should say "S/PDIF Optical Digital Audio Output: Connection: Combination Output". 3. Then you'll have to purchase a TosLink to Mini TosLink cable like this FosPower (3 Feet) 24K Gold Plated Toslink to Mini Toslink Digital Optical S/PDIF Audio Cable with Metal Connectors & Strain-Relief PVC Jacket. On my MacBook Pro, I plugged in the mini toslink into the 3.5mm headphone jack. The 3.5mm headphone jacks works both as a regular headphone out and also as an optical out. The unit feels sturdy, and the volume control knob works well. And at the price point, it's a real bargain. I have another external DAC Focusrite Scarlett Solo (2nd Gen) USB Audio Interface with Pro Tools | First that I use with my other sound system, and I honestly cannot tell the difference in sound quality. Definitely a 5 star item! Also, don't make the mistake of purchasing the little brother version PROZOR Digital to Analog Converter DAC Digital SPDIF Toslink to Analog Stereo Audio L/R Converter Adapter with Optical Cable for PS3 XBox HD DVD PS4 Home Cinema Systems AV Amps Apple TV if you want to be able to control the volume! For example, in my setup, ONLY way to control the output volume is through the DAC as the keyboard / system volume controls do NOT work.

Using this DAC with a DVD Player Mainly for Audio
I'm going start with I got a defective one it had a issue with distortion. Now the good, Proster contacted me and immediately sent me a replacement, so your dealing with a outfit in my opinion that has excellent customer service. I am using this with a Sony DVD/CD player using the optical input on the DAC which sounds much better than the analog outputs of the Sony. I am feeding the output of the DAC into a Mini Watt tube amplifier using the DAC's volume control as a pre-amp and feeding my Headphone amplifier as well. This combination works quite well so the Mini Watts volume is at full turning it into a power amp for the most part. This DAC's sound is very good and is comparable to my Onkyo C-7030 CD player sound wise that recently stopped working.

Excellent Solution Plus Volume Control
I checked many of these devices on Amazon and made this my choice due to reviews and actually understanding my unique situation. First—Make sure your TV is set to only output PCM audio. I connected an older 4.1 speaker system and the Volume Control is a necessary plus. Uses USB for power thru your TV or another source. Optical sound output cord is a necessary item. Has many other outputs .. just consider your needs as this unit really WORKS and is an excelllent solution to many problems with your electronic sound outputs. Nice company AAA+++
